How to Get More Lash Clients: 8 Things That Actually Work

Most lash techs grow their client base through Instagram and word of mouth. Both work — but only if they're set up correctly. This guide covers eight practical moves to go from inconsistently busy to fully booked, without spending money on ads.

01

Post your work on Instagram — consistently, not occasionally

For lash techs, Instagram is still the most effective free marketing channel. But it only works with consistency. Post at least four times per week: close-up shots of sets, before/afters (with client consent), content showing your process, and the occasional lifestyle post. An account that posts once every two weeks looks inactive and won't grow.

02

Use Instagram Reels, not just photos

Reels reach people who don't already follow you. A 15-second video of a lash application — with trending audio — routinely outperforms a photo post by 5–10x on reach. You don't need to film every set. One good Reel per week is enough to drive meaningful new profile visits.

03

Put your booking link in your bio and nowhere else

Your Instagram bio has one job: convert profile visitors into bookings. Use the link slot for your booking page. Don't link to a Linktree with six options — every extra click loses people. One link, one destination, one action: book.

04

Get on Google

Create a free Google Business Profile. Add your services, photos, location (or service area), and your booking link. People who search 'lash tech near me' or 'lash extensions [your town]' are ready to book. Most independent lash techs don't have a Google Business Profile — which means yours will stand out immediately.

05

Ask every happy client for a review

Google reviews are the single most visible trust signal for a local service business. Ask for them in person at the end of the appointment: 'If you're happy with your lashes, would you mind leaving me a Google review? It really helps.' Most people say yes and forget — send a follow-up message with the direct link the same day.

06

Introduce a referral incentive

Your existing clients know other people who get lash extensions. A simple offer — 'refer a friend and you both get £10 off your next set' — turns your client base into a sales team. The lifetime value of a referred client far exceeds the cost of the discount. Keep the mechanics simple: the new client mentions the name, both accounts are credited.

07

Build a rebooking habit with every client

The best time to book the next appointment is before the client leaves the current one. At the end of every set, ask: 'Shall we get your refill booked now? Most clients come back every 3–4 weeks.' A client who leaves with their next appointment already confirmed will rebook at a rate three times higher than one who has to remember to book themselves.

08

Use a booking link so people can act immediately

When a potential client sees your work on Instagram or a friend recommends you, the window to convert them into a booking is short. If they have to DM you, wait for a reply, and go back and forth on availability — many won't. A booking link in your bio means someone can go from seeing your work to having a booking confirmed in under two minutes.

The thing most lash techs overlook

Most marketing advice focuses on getting new clients in. But the fastest way to grow is to keep the ones you already have. A client who comes back every 3–4 weeks is worth significantly more than one who visits once.

Retention comes down to: does the booking experience feel professional, are reminders sent automatically so clients don't forget, and do you make it easy to rebook? A booking system that handles confirmation, reminders, and rebooking nudges can quietly double your repeat rate without any extra effort from you.
