How to accept appointment payments online

Accepting card payments online for appointments is simpler than it used to be. This guide covers the main options, how the payment flow works, and how to set up upfront payment so every appointment is paid before it happens.

Why payment at booking matters

Chasing payment after an appointment is uncomfortable and time-consuming. Sending bank transfer requests, waiting for cash, following up when payment doesn't arrive — these tasks add up across every customer, every week.

Payment at the time of booking removes all of this. Customers pay when they book. By the time they arrive, their appointment is already paid for. You just deliver the service.

How online card payment works for appointments

1

Customer books online

Customer visits your booking website, chooses a service, and selects an available time.

2

Customer pays via Stripe

A secure Stripe checkout handles the card payment. Nextro never stores card details — Stripe processes the payment directly.

3

Booking is confirmed

The customer receives an email confirmation automatically. The appointment appears in your dashboard.

4

Payment goes to your bank

Stripe routes the payment to your connected bank account on their standard payout schedule. Nextro never holds your funds.

What you receive

You charge£50.00
Customer pays£51.73
You receive£50.00

A small service fee is added to the customer's checkout total — never deducted from your listed price. No Nextro commission.

Cash and in-person payments

Not every customer wants to pay by card online. You can also support cash or in-person payments alongside online card payments. Cash appointments are logged in Nextro — you see who has paid and who still owes, without a separate spreadsheet.

Common questions

Answers about booking, payments, and getting started with Nextro.

Do I need to set up a payment gateway myself?

No. With Nextro, you connect your Stripe account and that's it. Stripe handles the payment gateway, PCI compliance, and card processing. You just need a Stripe account — setup takes around 5 minutes.

What does the customer experience when paying?

Customers see a standard Stripe checkout page. They enter their card details — Nextro never stores card numbers. Payment is confirmed and the booking is immediately created.

Can I offer both online payment and cash?

Yes. You can offer card payment for online bookings and allow cash for in-person appointments. Both are tracked in your Nextro dashboard.

How quickly do payments reach my bank?

Payments are processed by Stripe and paid out to your bank account on Stripe's standard payout schedule. This is typically 2–7 business days for new accounts and can be faster for established accounts. Nextro does not control or delay payout timing.

What about chargebacks?

Chargebacks are handled through Stripe between you, the customer, and their bank. Your booking records in Nextro can provide evidence for dispute resolution. Clear cancellation policies displayed at booking time reduce chargeback risk.
